Glencore (World Bank report)

Companies named in the Volcker Committee report (2005) include Glencore, an oil trading firm based in Switzerland, which was identified as being a leading provider of kickbacks to Saddam Hussein’s regime under the oil-for-food program, and the French bank BNP Paribas, the leading financier of Oil-for-Food deals, which the Volcker Committee accused of turning a blind eye to
the use of front companies to hide the real identity of Iraq’s partners.28 Very recently,
Total, the French oil and gas group, has been named in connection with the Oil-for-Food trading scandals.
